Modeling of Oxidative Coupling of Methane for Manufacture of Olefins—Part I: CFD Simulations

This paper presents a comprehensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model for describing the oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) carried out in fixed-bed reactors olefin production. Initially, single pellet was developed and implemented to describe heat mass transfer within between gaseous solid phases. Subsequently, sensitivity analyses were performed assess impact arrangement feed conditions on rates, subsequently affecting concentration temperature profiles. As indicated by simulations, high ethylene content could be obtained with increase CH4/O2 ratio, aligning well previous experimental studies. Furthermore, it observed that can significantly affect reactor performance. Additionally, behavior phases very different, such pseudo-homogeneous modeling approaches should not assumed priori. Finally, simulated differences substantial above 100 °C, indicating occurrence catalyst auto-ignition behavior.
